The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Malvern has been rechristened the Desmond Hotel Malvern, a DoubleTree by Hilton property, writes Donna Rovins for the Daily Local News.

The 194-room hotel in the busy Route 29 corridor officially reopened in a June 5 ceremony.

“The ownership and the management hasn’t changed, but our affiliation has changed dramatically. We are very, very happy and very excited about this future,” Michael Chain Sr., a member of the investment group that owns the Desmond, told hotel employees and invited guests.

The Desmond group had been independent hotel operators and owners.

“We find ourselves in an economy where we think the right thing to do is to join with a very, very strong partner, which we have in (DoubleTree by Hilton),” Chain said.

The company has invested nearly $5 million in improvements and renovations to the hotel, including new beds, carpet, furniture, lighting, technology, and more.
