New Report: The Best County to Live in Pennsylvania Is … Not Chester County?

The 2018 Best Counties to Live in Pennsylvania, published by Niche.com, awarded the coveted top spot to Montgomery County, leaving those of us in Chester County to scratch our heads and wonder how we ranked second.

The rankings provide a comprehensive assessment of overall livability at the county level. It’s based on several key factors, such as housing trends, crime rates, quality of schools, employment statistics, and access to amenities.

Chester County rated highly in:

  • Public Schools
  • Good for Families
  • Outdoor Activities
  • Health & Fitness
  • Nightlife

Among Chester County’s lowest scores are for Weather and Cost of Living. The latter was undoubtedly influenced by a median home value of $331,000. This is significantly higher than the national median of $184,700, as is the median rent of $1,222, which is well above the national average of $949.

Chester County ranked 48th among the Top 50 Best Counties to Live Nationwide.
