Forecast from West Chester’s Rockport Analytics Shows Why Cities Clamor to Host Final Four
West Chester’s Rockport Analytics is forecasting a windfall of $168 million for the Twin Cities from 94,000 visitors to Minneapolis and St. Paul during next April’s Final Four, writes Nick Halter for the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
In a recent study, Rockport Analytics found that Final Four will replace the usual $35 million in regular tourism and thus bring the net spending to $133 million.
Rockport Analytics handled the Super Bowl Host Committee’s economic impact study two years ago. Then, it estimated that the Twin Cities would see 125,400 visitors and $338 million in new spending for the event.

Kate Mortenson, CEO of the Minnesota Final Four Local Organizing Committee, said Rockport Analytics was selected to perform the study to ensure the committee receives the most credible – as opposed to the biggest – number.
“We thought it would be valuable to use the same vendor the Super Bowl Host Committee used, so we can establish a credible baseline for the value of these activities to our economy,” she said.
