Evening of Promise to Benefit Families Experiencing Homelessness

Family Promise of Southern Chester County, a volunteer nonprofit that helps families experiencing homelessness, will host its first fundraiser – “An Evening of Promise” – on Saturday, April 21 at 7 PM at the Kennett Country Club.

Proceeds will help families with children in Avon Grove, Kennett Square, Oxford, and Unionville-Chadds Ford school districts get back on their feet and regain their independence and sustainability.

Southern Chester County is one of over 200 Family Promise programs nationwide. At the event, Karen Olson, Family Promise founder and president emeritus, will share how a chance encounter with a homeless woman moved her to address the growing nationwide crisis of family homelessness.

An Evening of Promise will feature wine tasting and hors d’oeuvre pairings, as well as silent auction items for all ages, including a day of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, spa and restaurant packages, sporting event tickets, summer camp experiences, one-of-a-kind treasures by local artists, and more.

Chatham Financial, GWR Medical, SchagrinGAS, WoundMatrix, and numerous other community partners are generously sponsoring the event. Tickets are $65 per person or two for $125, and sponsorship packages are still available.

“Family Promise is funded primarily by donations from local individuals, businesses, and foundations,” said FPSCC executive director Susan Minarchi. “This is our main fundraiser of the year, and we hope to raise $30,000 to help us provide families with the tools they need for a fresh start.”
