Immaculata University

The university will host its first-ever Music Festival, which will feature 60 honors band students from local public and private high schools, on Friday, May 4. The students will spend the day at Immaculata playing musical instruments and learning from college faculty.

Joe Gehring and other applied music faculty members will instruct the students on their preferred concert band instruments, including the flute, saxophone, trumpet, and tuba.

After rehearsing throughout the day, the students will perform a concert at 7 PM in Alumnae Hall. The cost to attend is $1.

“With Immaculata University’s reputation as a great music school, I am excited to kick off the inaugural Music Festival and hope to offer more programming like this in the future,” said William Carr, Chair of Immaculata’s Music Department.

Law Enforcement Tactical Firing Range

Chester County Commissioners Michelle Kichline, Kathi Cozzone, and Terence Farrell were joined by representatives of the first-responder community, elected officials, and the public at last week’s official opening of the county’s Law Enforcement Tactical Firing Range, a $16 million facility located at the Public Safety Training Campus in South Coatesville.

“Public safety is one of the key priorities that we, as commissioners, focus upon: how to keep our residents safe, how to keep them out of danger,” said Kichline. “One way to mitigate danger is through intensive practice and training, which is why it has been our duty to make sure the facilities, the equipment, and the knowledge needed by all first responders is available.

“The opening of this tactical firing range completes the full range of training facilities needed to fully prepare our emergency responders.”
