WCU Live! to Host Canine Comedy for the Whole Family

By

Johnny Peers & The Muttville Comix

Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix are coming to West Chester University’s Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall on Saturday, March 31 with a show for the whole family and the dog lover in all of us.

The show is sponsored by WCU Live! and features more than a dozen canines performing challenging and outrageous tricks in this slapstick comedy.

The circus-style show has been seen at venues all over the country – including Disneyland, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and the White House – and on television shows like Late Night with David Letterman, Primetime Live, and Circus of the Stars.

“The dogs are the comics and I’m the straight man,” said Johnny Peers, a graduate of Ringling Bros. Clown College.

Peers has been working with dogs since he received his first puppy from the Humane Society back in 1972. While the show is full of fun and laughs for all ages, it’s especially gratifying to know that it stars mostly dogs that were rescued from shelters or dog pounds.

“These are dogs that nobody wanted,” said Peers.

Among them are Murphy the ladder-climbing Fox Terrier, Willy the Border Collie, and Mr. Pepe, who only responds to commands in Spanish.

“Hilarious” and “Lovable” are some of the words used to describe this doggie comedy.

The Providence Journal-Bulletin has called the show “a truly funny, slapstick dog act.”
