Tim Hightower, who played six years as a running back in the NFL after excelling at the University of Richmond, believes that Exton native Kyle Lauletta, also a former Spider, will be selected early during the upcoming NFL draft, writes John O’Connor for the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

“Mark my words,” said Hightower. “He will not go past the third round.”

Lauletta, a Downingtown East graduate, earned MVP at the Senior Bowl, and last week, he had the opportunity to impress scouts on his home turf in Virginia.

Hightower watched Lauletta doing drills at Robins Stadium and was impressed with his command and accuracy.

Hightower was not alone, as 32 NFL scouts were also observing the quarterback and other prospects. According to Richmond coach Russ Huesman, the questions that scouts most often asked about Lauletta are related to his leadership abilities: Could he be the face of a team? What type of person is he?

“I love the kid,” said Huesman. “He’s the total package, no question about that.”
