Immaculata’s New Prez Helped to Change Dress Code at Her Alma Mater 47 Years Ago

Barbara Lettiere

Barbara Lettiere, the 10th president of Immaculata University, is continuing her tradition of making a difference at her alma mater, according to a report in Immaculata Magazine.

Lettiere first made her mark on the school as junior class president 47 years ago. She scheduled a meeting with the President, Sister Mary of Lourdes, and the Dean of Students, Sister Mary Jean, to discuss changing the school’s dress policy.

“Don’t ask me where I got the guts to do this,” said Lettiere. “But I did, and right after that, Sister Mary of Lourdes said ‘I’m going to regret doing this, but we will change the dress code.’”

Lettiere, who previously worked as Vice President of Finance and Administration for Trinity University in Washington, D.C., is now focusing on clearly identifying the university’s vision. She believes that succeeding in the competitive world of higher education will require the skills and commitment of the entire Immaculata community.

“We will need to stay focused on our mission and keep students at the center of all our decisions,” said Lettiere.
