According to a new study, Philadelphia ranks 18th among the nation’s most-congested cities, as eight percent of Philadelphians’ driving time last year was spent stuck in traffic, write Meg Garner and Craig Ey for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The INRIX 2017 Traffic Scorecard Report also found that Philadelphians will spend an average of 37 hours sitting in traffic this year. The 37 hours can also be viewed as a financial cost, as the lost time to drivers works out to be around $1,427 each, according to the study.

Philadelphia also barely escaped being among the Top 100 most-congested cities in the world, checking in at No. 108. However, there are several cities in the eastern U.S. that have it much worse than Philadelphia.

Among them is Atlanta, where drivers will spend a whopping 70 hours waiting in traffic this year, costing each of them more than $2,212 in lost time.

However, the city with the highest congestion nationwide is, once again, Los Angeles, with 102 hours spent sitting in traffic per year, at a cost of $2,828 per driver.
