Berwyn-Based Renterval’s Software Helps Retailers Recoup Losses from Returned Merchandise

By

New software by Berwyn’s Renterval gives retailers a chance to recoup some losses by renting returned merchandise, writes Michelle Caffrey for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Renterval for Retail was released in February and gives retailers who may not have considered adding a rental component to their business the capability to do just that.

For example, through this software, a medical equipment company could rent out wheelchairs to people who only need them temporarily. The additional bonus for brick-and-mortar retailers is that the pickup and return of rented items gives customers a reason to visit their store twice.

“It’s an interesting vertical for us, as retailers are under increasing pressure to get foot traffic in the door,” said Renterval founder Andrew Chambers.

The new software can also integrate with retailers’ existing point-of-sale systems and inventory. This makes it easy to use and ensures that it will not disrupt the existing workflow.

“That’s key for us,” said Chambers. “We’re not looking to displace the business’s existing infrastructure. We think we can cohabitate with them.”
