Seedcopa’s 6th Annual “Souper Bowl” Morphs into Eagles Pep Rally

The CCEDC team is I not only ready for the home team to win the big game but also happy to help Chester County residents in need

While it may not be every year that the Philadelphia Eagles make the Super Bowl, one thing is certain, Seedcopa   an affiliate of the Chester County Economic Development Council will hold its annual “Souper Bowl” before the big game.

Hoping to break last year’s record of 137 pounds of “Souper Bowl” food donations.

For the sixth straight year, the Seedcopa staff have coordinated a luncheon for the entire CCEDC team featuring an array of soups, sandwiches, appetizers, desserts and more.

The price of admission for this celebration? A soup and cracker-themed donation for the Chester County Food Bank.

This year, the menu included a variety of soups – chicken parmesan; shrimp, quinoa, and corn chowder; tortellini, sausage, and spinach; and Philadelphia clam chowder plus some unique items.

Chris McHenry, Senior Portfolio and Compliance Manager for Seedcopa, contributed BBQ wild boar and Buffalo pheasant sandwiches while numerous others contributed dips and chips, desserts, beverages, and more.

Since this year the celebration also fell on Groundhog Day, Leslie Rylke, Marketing and Creative Services Manager for CCEDC – a Punxsutawney native – shared groundhog-shaped cookies.

CCECC’s Kathleen Nader and Jim Hammond were the best “Eagle” dressed attendees.

“I look forward to this event every year and must give thanks where thanks is due,” noted Sherwood Robbins, Managing Director for Seedcopa, “Kathy McAfee, Nancy Jones, and the entire Seedcopa team do an amazing job of pulling this celebration together.”

Robbins added, “while we don’t have the total number of pounds of food donated this year, I’m fairly certain that our generosity will exceed last year’s total of 137 pounds.”

Another key feature of the “Souper Bowl” is a variety of games and activities.  This year, since the Eagles are headed to the Super Bowl, attendees was encouraged to dress in their finest shades of green.

Two team members went above and beyond – Kathleen Nader, Facilities Manager and Jim Hammond, Controller, both were outfitted from head to toe in support of the birds – including their hair!

“This is always a fun team-building event for us,” said Mike Grigalonis, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for CCEDC, “this year was even more special since we turned it into a pep rally for the Eagles!”   “Even better,” he added, “we are able to give to the food bank who help those who are truly in need.”
