Ridley High School graduate Dino Vasso, a star receiver and defensive back during his scholastic football days, is enjoying a successful season in his second year as defensive quality control and assistant defensive backs coach for the Super Bowl-bound Philadelphia Eagles, writes Bob Grotz for the Daily Times.

Vasso’s coaching success, however, is tempered by the death of his older brother, Marshall Vasso, who died unexpectedly in July at the age of 34.

Vasso, 30, a three-sport standout at Ridley, played football at the University of New Hampshire before embarking on his coaching career. He keeps in touch with his family, friends, and old coaches in and around the Crum Lynne section of Ridley Township to share his experiences with the Eagles.

It’s not quite the same, however, without his brother.

“He was always proud of me,” Vasso said during media night at the Super Bowl. “He always followed the Eagles. He was a big fan. Just last season, him being around, he was always excited to go to the games; he was always excited to see us win.

“It was tough not having him around this year. He would have enjoyed every moment of this. He’d be elated to go through all this right now. We’re just living through him at this moment. It’s tough.”
