West Chester-based financial advisor Patti Brennan ranks among the Top 10 Best-In-State advisors in Pennsylvania, writes Kristin Stoller for Forbes magazine.

Brennan, 57, a graduate of Georgetown University, started her career as an ICU Nurse at Lankenau Medical Center.

In 1985, she left nursing and took a job with RTD Financial Advisors in Philadelphia. At the time, she had no job-related experience, except for one financial planning class she took in college.

After growing tired of commuting into the city, she started her own firm, Key Financial, in West Chester. The company started in her house with a small desk, a phone, and one part-time employee. Today, after 30 years in the business, Brennan and her staff manage nearly $600 million for 465 clients.

In terms of investing philosophy, Brennan places assets in sectors that have lagged. Today, that means less investing in tech and healthcare and more investing in energy and industrials.
