Chicago-based Footprints to Recovery is expanding into the Philadelphia region with an outpatient care facility opening later this month in Wayne, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Hirsch Chinn, the company’s founder and CEO, spent more than two decades living in Pittsburgh, and has wanted to open a Pennsylvania center since the company launched five years ago.

“Unfortunately, the addiction epidemic isn’t contained to one specific state,” said Chinn, noting that Pennsylvania’s heroin and opioid addiction rate is double the national average.

The new 8,700-square-foot facility is mostly for millennial clientele. It includes a yoga studio, art studio, and a space with a Ping-Pong table. The company aims to address the individual needs of each client, instead of using a general treatment plan.

“We try to create an atmosphere that is young, hip, and modern,” said Chinn. “We try to make the environment fun, but at the same time provide world-class treatment.”

Stephanie Menta, Clinical Director for the Wayne center, said Footprints to Recovery adopts a more holistic approach to recovery with its wide range of treatments, including art therapy, massage therapy, and acupuncture.
