A Silver Marten rabbit named Titan and owned by Gavra Goldie of East Nottingham was awarded best of its class recently at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg, writes Chris Barber in the Daily Local News.

Goldie, 14, an Oxford High School freshman and the daughter of Scott and Michele Goldie, lives on a farm and spends a lot of time with animals. The family has chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, and a cat. They also have horses living a few miles away in Cochranville.

While this year was Goldie’s first trip to the Farm Show, she and her family are no strangers to competition. Goldie also competes in the Eastern Shore Breeders Fair, the Cecil County Breeders Fair, the Maryland State Fair, and the Cecil County Fair, where she has also earned awards for poultry, steers, horses, and rabbits.

Next up for Goldie is the Pennsylvania State Rabbit Breeders Association Fair in Lebanon. Her rabbit must not only be judged superior, but Goldie must also score high on a written test that shows her knowledge of all aspects of raising rabbits.

After high school, Goldie would like to study to become a veterinarian.
