Membership Associate

The Membership Associate at Longwood Gardens manages the Garden’s member database, communicates regularly with members, oversees the fulfillment process, and performs other administrative functions such as managing the member volunteer team and assisting in writing/reviewing member communications.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, 1 to 3 years of experience in the membership/development/fundraising field, knowledge of CRM software such as Raiser’s Edge, strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel and Word, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Greenhouse Grower

This Grower will be involved in all aspects of crop production including transplanting, potting, repotting, staking, tying, grooming, watering, fertilizing, receiving and delivering plant material to become well versed in all aspects of Longwood’s high standards for producing beautiful display plants.

This position includes special emphasis on the training methods and unusual plants unique to Longwood Gardens as well as: assisting other growers, ordering greenhouse supplies, receiving and delivering plants, and supervising and mentoring students, seasonal employees, and volunteers in proper greenhouse growing techniques. Periodic weekend, holiday, and evening duty is required.

Minimum requirements include a two-year or four-year post-secondary degree in Horticulture with emphasis in Floriculture a working knowledge of greenhouse production, environmental control and irrigation, and strong organizational and communication skills and be effective working as part of a team as well as independently.

Horticulturist

Longwood Gardens is seeking a full-time Horticulturist for our Outdoor Landscape Division. This person will join a highly skilled team of horticulture professionals that manage Longwood’s world-renown outdoor gardens and landscapes, including the newly revitalized Main Fountain Garden, the Hillside Garden, and adjacent landscapes.

Daily care of the gardens, including deadheading, watering, staking, weeding, and mulching are critical for maintaining the high quality of these displays. Responsibilities also include training and mentoring students and volunteers on practices required to create and maintain outdoor displays to a high level of horticultural excellence.

Candidates should have a Bachelor Degree in horticulture with an emphasis in ornamental horticulture is preferred, possess a proven track record and experience with the care of gardens and landscapes, and have strong organizational and communication skills and experience working in a collaborative culture.

Plumber/Maintenance Mechanic

The Plumber at Longwood Gardens provides hands on technical expertise for day-to-day operations and maintenance of fluid moving equipment, components, and piping in a safe, cost effective manner while ensuring good housekeeping and an excellent guest experience.

Candidates should have a high school diploma/GED and completed an apprenticeship program (such as pipe fitter, plumber, millwright) or and have the demonstrated ability to operate the tools of the trade and to work with other trades as well as be familiar with email, internet and Microsoft Office products.
