Dreena Whitfield, a Lincoln University graduate and the founder and CEO of WhitPR, is one of the Top 25 African-American PR Millennials to Watch, writes Gwendolyn Quinn for The Huffington Post.

Whitfield, who earned her Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Lincoln and Master’s in Strategic Communications from Seton Hall University, credits her mother for her success.

“My mother worked three jobs consecutively at one point to care for my brother and me,” said Whitfield. “It’s from her that I developed my work ethic.

Whitfield fell in love with PR during her years at Lincoln.

“PR stuck out because it was a way to craft not only a story, but also a unique voice based on the audience,” she said.

Before starting her successful PR firm, Whitfield was Press Secretary for Cory Booker during his last year as Mayor of Newark.

“I would have to say my biggest accomplishment would be taking an African-American Mayor and giving him national exposure amongst the African-American media landscape,” she said.
