MacElree Harvey

U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers have ranked MacElree Harvey among the 2018 “Best Law Firms.” The firm received a “Tier 2” ranking in Family Law and Land Use & Zoning Law in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. According to U.S. News – Best Lawyers, the 2018 “Best Law Firms” are recognized for “professional excellence with persistently impressive ratings from clients and peers. Achieving a tiered ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal expertise.”

The rankings are determined by client and lawyer evaluations, peer reviews from leading attorneys in their field, and reviews of additional information provided by law firms as part of the formal submission process. To qualify, a law firm must have at least one lawyer listed in the current edition of The Best Lawyers in America list for that region and practice area.

Chester County Color 5K

More than 1,000 race participants and supporters of all ages came together in Everhart Park in West Chester last Saturday morning at the start of the Chester County Color 5K, a color run and walk benefiting programs that will combat the opioid and heroin crisis in the county.

The event raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the county’s new program, Community Outreach and Prevention Education (COPE), that will address all aspects of substance abuse addiction.

“We know that we have to be aggressive and smart in fighting the opioid and heroin battle, and the money we’re raising with this event will help to fund that smart fight,” said Michelle Kichline, Chair of the Chester County Commissioners.

Shop with the Sheriff

Wide-eyed wonder will envelop the East Marlborough Walmart on Saturday, Dec. 2 for the “Fourth Annual Shop with the Sheriff.”

More than 100 children from the Chester County Family Academy, a K-2 charter school in West Chester, will receive a law-enforcement escort to the store, complete with wailing sirens and flashing lights. Once there, the children will be paired with deputy sheriffs, who will serve as personal shoppers, ensuring that the students get the perfect gifts for their family members.

For anyone interesting in sponsoring a child, a $50 donation will be matched by a corporate sponsor. Prospective donors should contact Donna Walton at 610-344-4299 or dwalton@chesco.org. Any businesses that would like to participate should contact Lt. Harry McKinney at hmckinney@chesco.org or 610-344-4314.

Aclaris Therapeutics

Aclaris Therapeutics in Malvern is ramping up its efforts to assemble a sales team, as the Food and Drug Administration is scheduled to rule on the company’s lead new drug candidate next month, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

“We’ve hired a number of folks for middle-layer management positions, and now we are concentrating on the sales force,” said Aclaris CEO Dr. Neal Walker.

Aclaris hired six regional managers during the third quarter, and is now in the process of recruiting 50 sales representatives, positions that will be contingent upon receiving FDA approval for A-101, an experimental treatment for seborrheic keratosis.

Veterans Free Dentistry Day

Veterans in the Exton community and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to receive free dental services at Penn Premier Dental on Saturday, Nov. 11.

Dr. Madden, Dr. Lamb, and team at Penn Premier Dental will be improving the oral health of the community as part of Free Dentistry Day, a day dedicated to providing free dental care to the growing number of veterans without dental insurance.

“We understand that many veterans in our community and across the nation haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time. Some veterans don’t have the financial means,” said Dr. Madden. “This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with the men and women who have dedicated their lives to our country.”

From 8 AM-12 PM at 555 West Uwchlan Avenue, Suite 100, patients will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Veterans are asked to bring a valid form of veteran’s identification (Veteran’s ID, license with Veteran’s stamp, or DD214). For more information, call 610-363-5810.
