Universal Pasteurization Plans to Double Its Chester County Workforce

Universal Pasteurization, now Universal Pure, is planning to double its workforce at its two-year-old office and processing facility in Chester County.

Following its rebranding, Georgia’s Universal Pasteurization is now planning to double the workforce at its Chester County facility, writes Kenneth Hilario for Philadelphia Business Journal.

The goal of its rebranding to Universal Pure, was to provide a platform for the company to communicate the benefits of high pressure processing to industrial customers, according to CEO Mark A. Duffy.

Now “we are expecting to drive double-digit growth for Universal Pure, company-wide and specifically at our Malvern site,” said Duffy.

The nation’s largest provider of high pressure processing and cold storage services operates a 170,000-square-foot office and processing facility in Malvern. The company entered into the lease on the space two years ago after it received a state department of community and economic development funding proposal.

The company has also announced that Tom Pontikes has been hired as its business development executive. As part of his duties, he will be in charge of growing Universal Pure’s food service presence nationwide, with the emphasis on the Malvern facility.

“The Universal Pure leadership team has decided it is a very good time to invest in sales talent and operations talent to staff our Malvern facility,” said Pontikes.
