The Chester County Controller’s Office received notification of an award bestowed upon it by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

A Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was presented to County Controller Norman MacQueen and his staff for the 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). A copy of the CAFR can be found by clicking here.

The GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and finance reporting, and its attainment “represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” notes the GFOA.

The award for 2016 CAFR marks the 36th consecutive year that Chester County has earned the GFOA accolade, ranking the county as joint first in Pennsylvania, and one of less than 60 counties (out of more than 3,000 nationwide) that has been recognized for 36 years or more.

“One of Chester County’s strategic priorities focuses on governance, specifically to pursue excellence through exceptional customer service, transparency, accountability, and innovation,” said MacQueen.

“Chester County’s CAFR document was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story.”
