During its last meeting, the Easttown Township Planning Commission discussed a proposal to build six townhouses next to the Devon Yard commercial development, writes Linda Stein for Main Line Suburban Life.

Currently, the property at 133 Berkley Road houses a single-family house. If the proposal is approved, the zoning change would add the property to the Devon Center zoning overlay district. However, this would only permit the townhomes to be constructed on a small area of the Devon Yard property.

A previously plan for Devon Yard included an apartment building, but it was vehemently opposed by nearby residents.

Fred Fromhold, a lawyer who is representing the developers, Denise Lehmann and Andrew Holder, said that this is a completely different plan from the one that was rejected last December.

The new proposal reflects comments from the Planning Commission, as well as township staff.

“Some of the salient features of that are we have specifically provided a location within the district where townhomes could be located,” said Fromhold.

However, following the discussion and comments from residents, the Planning Commission has not yet made a final decision.
