Recent Acquisition Drives West Chester-Based Krapf Bus into New York

Krapf Bus Companies is driving its success into New York state, where a recent acquisition of Birnie Bus accelerated the West Chester bus company’s fleet growth by about 66 percent.

The Birnie Bus acquisition adds 1,000 buses to a Krapf fleet that now totals 2,500, according to a School Transportation News report by Ryan Gray. And the addition comes from an award-winning team; Birnie Bus was named the 2016 New York Contractor of the Year.

“Birnie Bus is a great bus company and a great fit for us,” said President and CEO Blake Krapf. “They are family-owned and run like us. Their core values are much like ours. And they are widely recognized as being an excellent service provider. We are very proud to have them join the Krapf organization.”

Both sides of the deal expect the merger to deliver a successful partnership well into the future.

“It is important to me that Birnie Bus is in good hands – including our customers, our employees, and our reputation,” said Birnie Bus President and CEO Tim Birnie. “While I will be joining the Krapf Board of Directors in a more strategic role, I am delighted that the Krapfs will not only be taking charge, but will be taking Birnie to whole new levels of performance in the years ahead.”
