Elevated views, stunning valley scenes, and a canyon-like descent are all possible in a proposed 3.5-mile extension of the Chester Valley Trail from Exton to Downingtown.

The Chester County Planning Commission recently released recommendations for the addition to the 13.5-mile Chester Valley Trail after a study of the alternatives.

It advocates following the old Philadelphia and Thorndale Branch railroad corridor along an elevated route from SEPTA’s Exton Station through pristine Valley Creek views, over the Downingtown trestle and into canyon-like cuts, as well as connecting with the Struble and East Branch Brandywine trails.
