Honoring Memorial Day by Helping Others

CCEDC Staff pose by GreenDrop truck after loading collected items.

Since Memorial Day commemorates those who have served our country, this weekend we honor that spirit by giving back to our community.  In the past few weeks, CCEDC completed two collection drives at our offices.

We held a clothing and household items collection to benefit the Military Order of the Purple Heart.  This Congressionally-chartered charity is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat.

Although memberships is restricted the combat wounded, Purple Heart supports ALL veterans and their families with a myriad of nationwide programs. Through the GreenDrop program, donated items are sold to area thrift shops with the proceeds benefitting Purple Heart.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we collected rice, beans, taco shells, tortillas, and salsas to donate to the Chester County Food Bank.  After everything was loaded up and weighed, a total of 185 pounds was donated to the Food Bank!

Coming up, we look forward to participating in the United Way’s PB&J Food Drive for the Chester County Food Bank on June 2 and hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive at our facility on June 27.

We hope you can join us!
