Downingtown author Brendan Lyons has published a collection of short stories, entitled Single Candles, that focus on pro-life subjects and situations, writes Mickey Kelly for CatholicPhilly.com.

The fictional stories form a chain of events that link the various characters who are committed to the sanctity of life. According to the author, the passion that builds the conviction of his characters is very real.

“When people see others actively fighting for what they believe in, it inspires them,” said Lyons.

Lyons, who graduated from Villanova, said he wanted to use his writing talents for more than just class assignments. Writing the book gave him a chance to properly explore his convictions, while still fulfilling his calling.

“I’ve learned how satisfying it is to use your gifts to serve the Lord,” said Lyons.
