Malvern’s Liberty Property Trust has decided to demolish the former Support Center for Child Advocates building situated on land it recently purchased in collaboration with Comcast, writes Jacob Adelman for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Liberty hopes to begin the demolition process of the two-story building at 19th and Cherry streets in Philadelphia sometime next month, said John Gattuso, regional director for the Liberty Property Trust. He also noted that, as of this time, the company has no plans to develop the property.

The developer has acquired a big part of the block bounded by Cherry and Arch streets, in between 19th and 20th streets, as part of its arrangement with Comcast. There has been some speculation that Liberty might decide to build a third Center City office tower for Comcast on the site.

Liberty is currently nearing the completion of the Comcast Technology Center, previously dubbed the Comcast Innovation and Technology Center. It’s the company’s second Philadelphia skyscraper.

The building, which is being constructed to the southeast of the newly acquired properties, will be 60-stories high, and will be the tallest building in the country outside of New York or Chicago.
