The Paoli-based Malvern Federal Savings Bank has announced plans to introduce an updated brand identity, including a new company logo and tagline, as part of a general expansion in 2017.

As part of this initiative, Malvern Federal will re-introduce its brand in advertising, marketing materials, and branch signage, as well as on its website and social media presence. The bank’s new tagline, “Beyond your Expectations,” reflects Malvern Federal’s commitment to personal service and flexible financial solutions.

“We’re moving our brand forward and building on the many recent improvements we have made to our business, all while respecting our 130-year company legacy,” said Anthony C. Weagley, President and CEO. “Striving to maintain Malvern Federal’s iconic, recognizable presence is our chief goal as we move through this process.”

Last year, Malvern Federal expanded its regional footprint with the opening of a private banking and commercial lending division headquartered in Morristown, N.J., and a new private banking office in Villanova.

ChescoBus

ChescoBus will implement new service schedules, effective Monday, Feb. 27, for all three bus routes (SCCOOT, Coatesville Link, and Evening Link).

ChescoBus is managed by the Transportation Management Association of Chester County, a nonprofit located in Malvern that promotes alternative transportation options throughout Chester County. These changes to the bus schedules are the result of an operations audit conducted by PennDOT and a service efficiency review by TMACC.

The PennDOT audit concluded that it must continue to be fiscally responsible and manage ChescoBus services within directly-available state funding. These audits provided the opportunity to review the routes and services to maximize efficiencies and eliminate redundancies in the Link and Evening Link bus lines, and better align the bus schedules to the SEPTA 104 bus line and the Krapf “A” line.

Genesis HealthCare, the nursing home operator based in Kennett Square, has eliminated about 180 jobs, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal. The positions were cut at regional, divisional, and corporate offices located in several states, and represent 0.2 percent of the company’s total work force.

“Over the last year, Genesis HealthCare has been taking steps to streamline our operational support model at the regional, divisional, and corporate levels to better meet the challenges facing our industry,” a company spokeswoman said.

A 2017 IoT Evolution Business Impact Award will be presented to Sprint and its client, Malvern-based BioTelemetry, by TMC and Crossfire Media at the IoT Evolution Conference & Expo on Feb. 9. The Business Impact Awards program recognizes a select group of companies and business leaders that have successfully leveraged IoT to solve a business issue, launch a new service, or create revenue opportunities.

Sprint Business and BioTelemetry earned the award because, through their partnership, they solved a significant medical challenge. Physicians have had ongoing issues identifying cardiac arrhythmias using traditional monitoring devices because they are too dependent on patient interaction and have rudimentary algorithms that can miss potential life threatening arrhythmias.

They overcame this challenge when Sprint provided BioTelemetry an easy method of activating and deploying devices to support automated, real-time, remote patient monitoring. Sprint enables BioTelemetry to utilize thousands of wireless devices on a daily basis to monitor patients, helping to create efficiencies, minimize costs, and provide better, more immediate patient care.

The Middletown (N.Y.) and New Jersey Railroad – which is operated by Kennett Square-based Regional Rail, LLC – will receive $900,000 to rehabilitate its tracks and install positive train control, a system that would automatically stop the train in an emergency.

According to the office of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the money is part of a $25 million sum to fund rail and port improvements across the Empire State. Regional Rail had previously received $1.9 million from New York in 2014.

Route 52 and Pocopson Road

The first flashing yellow left turn arrow in Southeastern Pennsylvania will soon come to Chester County, according to a CBS Philly report by Jim Melwert. Drivers will see one on Wednesday at the intersection of Route 52 and Pocopson Road.

A flashing yellow left turn arrow means turns are permitted, but you must first yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians. The new lights are already in several other states.
