WCU’s Ethics Team to Compete for National Title in Dallas

WCU-2c_logo-CMYK_outlinesThey’re some of the region’s best at wrestling with troubling and complex ethical issues, and now the West Chester University ethics team is headed to Dallas to compete for a national championship.

WCU’s team of five tied for third place in the recent Northeast Regional Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, earning a trip to the national competition hosted by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics on Feb. 26, 2017.

“This competition is not a debate format,” WCU Interim Philosophy Chair Joan Woolfrey said. “It is judged on the basis of civil discourse and acknowledgement of the breadth and depth of the ethical issues involved in the cases explored — a most necessary venture in these times.”

WCU team members include computer science sophomore Madison Algayer, pre-med senior Julianna Brodhecker, history senior Laura Bruce, accounting senior Jacob Galligan, and psychology senior Alexa Radke, along with alternates in marketing junior Amanda Lee and English senior Rachel Logan.

The team is coached by Assistant Philosophy Professor Larry Udell.
