West Chester Henderson soccer player Max Zandi, a senior center back who will play collegiately at Villanova, has been named the Southeastern Pennsylvania Boys Soccer Player of the Year by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“He knits the rest of the team together,” Henderson coach Sean Ryan said of Zandi. “He gave confidence to the guys to the side of him, the guys in front of him. Just knowing he was there and would cover for them. Other coaches equated him to having another coach on the field for us.”

Zandi’s defense propelled the Warriors to a 23-2-1 record, including 14 shutouts, and the District One Class 4A championship.
