West Grove-Based Dansko Helps B-Corp Movement Get on Its Feet

By

dansko-logoBy treading in unfamiliar territory a decade ago, Dansko, West Grove’s employee-owned comfort shoemaker, has helped the B-Corp movement get on its feet.

And “doing well by doing good” is now thriving in Pennsylvania and beyond.

The commonwealth is “populated by companies as committed to social and environmental progress and transparency as they are to earning profits,” a Keystone Edge report by Elise Vider said.

Wayne nonprofit B Lab is hosting today’s private Champions Retreat and public B Inspired conference at the University of Pennsylvania. Dansko is among the champions.

“Though Dansko became a founding member in 2007, I really do believe that we were a B Corporation before B Corps existed,” CEO Mandy Cabot said of her company’s B Corp certification. “(B Corp certification) lets us connect with the conscious consumer market.

“Socially and environmentally conscious consumers seek out brands who strive to do the right thing. When consumers see the B Corp logo on our boxes, they know they’ve found a kindred spirit.”
