tchs-logoThe state’s top education official recently studied up on one of the state’s top schools during a visit to Downingtown’s Technical College High School (TCHS) Brandywine Campus.

As part of his Schools That Teach tour, Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Pedro Rivera engaged TCHS students and faculty in a Q&A session, a tour of applied learning labs, and a light brunch served by culinary arts students, according to a Daily Local News staff report.

“College is 90 percent time management and effort,” Rivera said. “And you can’t follow money. If you pick a track you’re interested in, opportunity will follow.”

He also shared his own personal journey with education, and provided updates about his administration’s efforts to reform graduation requirements.

“The students were in awe to have such an intimate discussion with Secretary Rivera,” TCHS Administrator Michael Katch said. “He shared both professional and personal experiences that inspired and complemented their career pathways.”
