american-public-gardensThe North American Plant Conservation Initiative has released its 2016-2020 North American Botanic Garden Strategy for Plant Conservation.

The organization unites the Kennett Square-based American Public Gardens Association with others to update a plan that spans the entire continent and focuses on the recovery, conservation, and protection of the plants of North America.

It is being supported by the collective power and resources of more than 1,000 gardens and related organizations focused on this one critical issue.

The strategy presents a clear path for how all gardens can protect their natural habitats, integrate the conservation of plants into their mission, and educate and inform the more than 100 million people every year who visit gardens in North America.

“Every garden is a conservation garden,” said Casey Sclar, Executive Director of the American Public Gardens Association. “This plan for plant conservation helps ensure that at-risk plant species and their natural communities will not only survive, but thrive.”

The strategy is available for download here.
