dressage-at-devonThe 2016 Dressage at Devon saw breeders and other horse enthusiasts get together to compete and celebrate at the end of September, writes Lillian Shupe for NJ.com.

The annual event has been expanding each year and now sees top breeders from around the country eagerly awaiting its start.

“What started out 41 years ago as a new show with just a few horses in the breed division has grown into the largest open breed show in the world,“ said Melanie Sloyer, Chair of the Breed Division.

Given its long history, many of the return visitors represent generations of horse fans who have competed in various Dressage at Devon events over the years. With its wide variety of different categories – including the “Born in the USA” Breeders Awards, the Performance Division, and the Two-Tempi Challenge – it has something for everyone.

“As a breeder, it’s good marketing. To advertise successes at Devon stands for something. Plus, you can meet all your friends and have a good time,” said breeder Klaus Schengber, who has been coming to the event for 30 years.
