Don’t Miss It: Kennett Square’s 31st Annual Mushroom Festival
It’s almost time for mushrooms to take center stage in Kennett Square as the 31st Annual Mushroom Festival gears up in the Mushroom Capital of the World, according to a staff report from Daily Local News.
That has many residents thinking past Labor Day in anticipation of wacky community fun which pays homage to our favorite fungi.
Over 100,000 people are expected to fill the southern Chester County borough the second weekend in September for delicious food, art, live music, and other Only-in-Chester-County events.
Those attendees can expect fierce competition this year for The National Fried Mushroom Eating Championship title. The current world record of 11.5 fried pounds consumed in eight minutes will be nearly two years old when competitors return to the tables. History could be made.
And Saturday night features the music of Christine Havrilla and Mason Porter, followed by an antique and classic car show with some of the region’s most unique cars the day after.
Admission is $3 for everyone 12 and up. All proceeds go to local and regional nonprofit organizations through the Mushroom Festival’s grant program.
