Coatesville Has New Refuge for Older Women in Catherine Twomey House

By

Home of the Sparrow's new five-unit appartment building in Coatesville will serve as an emergency shelter and support system for women ages 55 to 62.

A new Coatesville refuge aims to catch older women who’ve fallen through the cracks in Chester County. The totally renovated and beautifully restored Catherine Twomey House will now host the newest Home of the Sparrow initiative: an emergency shelter and support system for women ages 55 to 62.

“Once you get to a certain age, we think women should have made it,” Director of Programs Matrie Johnson said in a Main Line Today report by Lisa Dukart. “You should have your savings, be married, have children. That’s not the reality anymore.”
