Traffic Planning and Design welcomed Thomas Walter as its new ITS & Traffic Operations Service Leader on August 1st.

After 35 years with PennDOT District 5-0, Walter is an expert in traffic and operations such as traffic signals, traffic signing, pavement markings, railroad crossings, roundabouts and general operations and maintenance.

In his previous position as Assistant District Traffic and Operations Manager and Roundabout Coordinator for PennDOT, Walter was involved in the creation of the District’s then ITS and Communications Center, now known as the Traffic Management Center.

Walter’s extensive experience in this field will, without a doubt, strengthen the existing comprehensive traffic signal, ITS and traffic operations services that TPD provides to clients.

For information on any existing or potential projects he will be working on, Walter is available via email or phone at 215 622-2525.

TPD is also looking to fill several positions across the Mid-Atlantic Region. Vacancies in construction management and inspection, transportation planning, municipal engineering, highway design, as well as project management are currently available. For more information, visit TPD’s employment page.
