The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) has announced that Delaware County Community College President, Dr. Jerry Parker, is CEO of the year for the ACCT Northeast Region.

Delaware County Community College serves Chester County with six locations in the county. Brandywine Campus in Downingtown is home to the College’s Culinary Arts Program, Chester County Hospital hosts a nursing program and Downingtown, Exton, Pennocks Bridge and Phoenixville offer a variety of credit and non-credit courses and programs.

ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the United States and beyond.

The nonprofit educational organization of governing boards published the list of recipients of its annual Regional Awards on Tuesday. The goal of the awards is to recognize the tremendous contribution community colleges and their leaders make to meet the needs of their communities.

“Community colleges are uniquely committed to open-access, high-quality higher education for all Americans, as well as a vital pipeline to the jobs that support communities and keep our country going strong,” said Roberto Zárate, ACCT’s Chair and Alamo Colleges Trustee. “This year’s regional awardees represent the most outstanding people and programs across this great nation.”

ACCT President and CEO J. Noah Brown said that identifying and recognizing outstanding leaders of community colleges represents the highlight of the organization’s year.

“The 2016 awardees are among the best we’ve seen, reflecting our colleges’ tireless commitment to helping students succeed,” he added. “Congratulations to all of this year’s awards recipients.”

As a winner of the ACCT regional award, Dr. Parker is also in consideration for the ACCT’s 2016 Marie Y. Martin Chief Executive Award. Award recipients for each category will be announced during the Annual ACCT Awards Gala at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside in Louisiana on October 7th.
