The Sixth Annual National Night Out in Kennett Square on Tuesday celebrated the success of community policing in taking back areas that were previously crime and drug hotspots. The event drew a huge crowd and gave members of law enforcement, state lawmakers, community members, borough officials, and the county commissioners a chance to talk and get to know each other.

Thanks to the “Community Tree Planting Event” organized by artist Emily Artinian, which planted over 1,000 Penn Oak acorns on November 1st two years ago, the meadow along Route 41 in Londonderry is starting to see tiny saplings of baby Penn Oak trees emerging. Artinian is hoping to increase the dwindling number of these historic trees which were first discovered when the state was founded by William Penn in 1682.

As a part of the recent agreement between Delaware County Community College and Pennsylvania State University, graduates are now able to seamlessly transfer their credits with no application fees. To qualify, students need a minimum grade-point average of 2.0 and major in a bachelor of science in biology, bachelor of science in business, or bachelor of arts or science in psychology.

Paoli Hospital nurses Meghan Walker and Cathleen Vandenbraakt, are finalists for the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania 2016 which recognizes outstanding nursing professionals. Following the news, Paoli Hospital announced “Congratulations, ladies! We are honored to have you represent Paoli and MLH at the awards in November, and are proud to have you as a member of our nursing team.”
