Vanguard volunteers, CEO and employees of PATF, and residents and employees from Inglis, came to the unveiling of the accessible financial education website.

Vanguard has lifted the curtain on a website offering financial education, management, and planning for people with disabilities that was more than a year in the making.

Vanguard CEO Bill McNabb thanks the Vanguard volunteers and PATF employees for their commitment to the project.

Working in tandem with the Pennsylvania Assistive Technology Foundation, Vanguard employees created the website as part of the firm’s skills-based community volunteer program.

The website complements Cents and Sensibility, PATF’s money-management book for people with disabilities. The website offers interactive tools and easier access to information from the book, to help people plan for a more secure financial future.

Vanguard and PATF then worked with Inglis, an organization dedicated to assisting the disabled of the Delaware Valley, to test the website and ensure its accessible.

“Working alongside Susan [Tachau, CEO of PATF] and her team – they were a dream client,” said Diane Haltigan, a communication project specialist for Vanguard and member of the volunteer team who designed and built the website.

“We all learned how to work as a team and collaborate. The great thing about this program is that not only do we help a nonprofit, but we learn from them too. I will be taking things I’ve learned from PATF and implementing them in my job today. It was truly a rewarding experience.”
