Production is pouring out of the only stainless steel keg manufacturer in the country in order to quench the growing thirst of the craft brewing industry, and that means big business for Pottstown.

A business venture that originated with Sly Fox Brewing’s John Giannopolous as Geemacher is now flowing at full speed thanks to a $1 million investment by former Bentley Systems executive Scott Bentley, a fresh rebranding as American Keg and expansion plans to take the current 15-person, single-shift workforce to multiple shifts and an employee count “at least double, if not triple, by the end of the year,” he said in a Daily Local News report by Donna Rovins.

“This is a good investment opportunity. I am really bullish on taking this business from where it is to doing a bigger volume. We’ve got an excellent foundation, excellent management and support from many different groups.”

American Keg aims to crank open the tap until it’s making 50,000 to 100,000 kegs per year in the 30,000-square-foot facility on Robinson Street.

“This is a golden opportunity. Scott coming in and reviving us is a godsend,” longtime American Keg employee Rich Littleton said in the article. “We’re going to grow — I have a feeling we’re going to outgrow this building.”
