Kennett Square Girl Wrestles Her Way Closer to World Championship

Ignoring the fact that wrestling is considered a male-dominated sport, Kennett Square High School senior, Mary Nichols, has just won her eighth wrestling state championship title, qualifying her for the National Wrestling Championship in North Dakota. Nichols, whose successes have secured her a spot at Ferrum College in Virginia on an all-girls team, will be traveling to Texas this week in an attempt to make the world wrestling team.

Dogwood Parade Delights Phoenixville Crowd

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Phoenixville on Saturday to enjoy the Dogwood Parade as dozens of local groups marched through the town to mark the end of the weeklong Dogwood Festival. The popular annual event, which honors tradition, community, and people who serve in the Armed Forces, was celebrating its 63rd year with the fair that included amusement rides, games, onstage live music nightly and over 40 vendor booths.

 

Bernardon to Design Kinsley Construction’s Shopping Center Project

Kinsley Construction has been awarded the $17.5 construction management contract for the 110,000-square-foot shopping center project in Montgomery County. The architect for the project located at the intersection of Routes 202 and 73 in Blue Bell is Bernardon, Kennett Square’s full-service architecture, interior design, and landscape firm. 

Work of Mental Health First Aiders in Chester County Celebrated

Last Wednesday, local organizations celebrated the efforts of Chester County mental health first aiders who are trained to help some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community in honor of mental health month. The celebration that recognized certified trainees was co-sponsored by the Brandywine Health Foundation, The COAD Group, and Chester County’s Department of Mental Health/Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
