Chester County’s Economic Reach Extends to China

David Burt (center), VP, International, explains CTDI's operations to a delegation from China at the company's West Goshen facility last year. CTDI currently does business at 13 locations throughout China.

While Chester County continues to be recognized for its leading role in health, wealth and business here in America, leaders like Commissioner Terence Farrell and CCEDC COO Mike Grigalonis are pursuing economic opportunities for the county at the far reaches of the globe.

A pioneering partnership with China that has both sent and hosted delegations in the last couple years recently rallied Asians throughout Philadelphia to join Chester County during the Asian Food & Business Expo on April 30 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

“We take pride in the fact that we are very forward-thinking when it comes to not only finding but directing opportunities for economic development and business growth in Chester County not just in Chester County but also for Chester County businesses looking to make international connections and possibly set up international operations,” Chester County Economic Development Council COO Mike Grigalonis said in the expo keynote speech.

Already China has produced opportunities in healthcare, mushrooms, renewable energy and education for Chester County’s Bernardon, Genesis Healthcare, West Chester University, Bentley Systems and Victory Brewing Co.

Plus, a coming trip for Emergency Services Director Robert Kagel and a delegation trip to China in November will further develop economic potential through Chester County’s Sino-American Regional Business and Culture Exchange.

“We believe that the relationships we have developed and the commitment that Chester County has shown will provide a competitive edge and distinguish our projects from others seeking investment dollars (through the innovative federal EB5 foreign investment program),” Farrell said.
