Chester County Commissioners Present $250K to Melton Arts and Education Center

The Charles A. Melton Arts and Education Center in West Chester has received a check for $250,000 from the Chester County Commissioners. The funds, which are from a Community Development Block Grant, will be used to replace doors and windows throughout the building, provide HVAC improvements in the gymnasium and theater, and implement technology upgrades such as WiFi.

Alburger Jr. to Step Down as Liberty Property Trust CFO

Liberty Property Trust, the Malvern based real-estate development company said on Monday, that George J. Alburger Jr. will be stepping down from his position as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer on June 1st. Alburger, who will remain with Liberty in an advisory capacity until the end of the year to assist with the transition, will be replaced by Christopher J. Papa, currently the CFO at Post Properties Inc.

WC Henderson Takes Second Place in State Academic Competition

The West Chester Henderson High School academic team won second place in the state academic competition that was held at the Pennsylvania State Capitol building on April 29th. By achieving one of the top three places in the championship round, Henderson also secured a spot in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments in Dallas, Texas, from May 27-29th.

Seven Local Students Awarded Scholarships by Greater Phoenixville Healthcare Scholarship Program

The Greater Phoenixville Healthcare Scholarship Program, which has awarded over one hundred scholarships since its inception in 1995, has selected seven local students out of the nineteen scholarship applicants this year. The seven scholarships of $8,000 are funded by the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation and Phoenixville Hospital Medical Staff, paid over four years, and can be applied for by all Phoenixville area school district graduates pursuing health-related careers.
