This Weekend: West Chester Film Festival Showcasing Diversity From All Angles
Get ready to follow compelling characters like a Korean housewife, a black cyclist, and an Indian doctor, and watch stunning storylines that wrestle with racial profiling, gender identity and Middle Eastern prejudice; the West Chester Film Festival is all set to roll the film of over eighty high-quality and diverse short films on April 22-24.
The diversity-focused film festival also aims to bring together Chester County residents from all walks of life to celebrate filmmaking, deepen relationships, learn new things and network with new faces through numerous public film screenings, parties, workshops, and events.
“We encourage members of the community to come out and view the films, participate in events and extend a warm welcome to our visiting filmmakers, who come from all over the world to share their art,” Board President Carol Quigley said.
Dozens of short films will each be shown at both the Chester County Historic Courthouse and the Chester County Historical Society over the course of the weekend-long film festival, along with a special and free (for children 10 and under) family-friendly lineup of films Saturday morning.
“Our screening process focuses on film quality and not the potential commercial success of a film,” board member Kevin Fitzpatrick noted. “We also reach out each year to diversify our screening board. As a result, our festival naturally celebrates diversity in film every year.”
