Director of Professional Education, Certification & Compliance

This position is responsible for managing all tasks surrounding the day-to-day operations of the Office of Teacher Certification. He/she will coordinate facility projects and provide leadership for web-based information for the College of Education. The person also serves on the WCU Council of Professional Education. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity toward the needs and interests of candidates enrolled in educator preparation programs.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s Degree and a minimum of three years of experience in higher education that will include demonstrated commitment to student services. Knowledge of public school certification requirements and experience with student information systems’ software is preferred.

Web Technical Specialist

This position will work with the Department of Information Services, specifically the Web Team, to maintain the University’s internal and public-facing websites, as well as, their mobile apps. He/she will focus on guiding strategic and technical development of the WCU websites using state-of-the-art technologies. Responsibilities include working directly with clients to determine specifications for requests, developing and maintaining web online forms utilizing SQL databases, and enhancing current mobile app based on various personas.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree, and a balance of technical proficiencies with web development, communication, and supervisory skills. A minimum of two years of experience performing website maintenance and experience supervising a minimum of one to three employees is required.

Data Specialist

This position will perform technical and administrative support functions to advance initiatives, reports, documentation, evidence, and communications regarding professional teacher education for the institution. He/she will interact with undergraduate and graduate program areas within the colleges and departments that provide courses and experiences that lead to professional certification. The person will analyze and interpret data to provide the most accurate information regarding programs in professional education.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in education or a related field, and have a minimum of two years of work experience in educational research, assessment, or institutional research. Skills in statistics and statistical software are required, as well as experience with Student Information Systems (e.g., PeopleSoft).
