Sparks of talent are flying from the fingers of the man behind Philly’s underground electric lines. One of only two standouts from utility company PECO, Dayton Duncan of Phoenixville recently received a Modern Day Technology Leader Award from the 2016 Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference for his role in shaping the future of the STEM industry.

“These awards represent the ongoing dedication of our employees who are driving innovation and advancing smart energy for our customers,” PECO President and CEO Craig Adams said.

The eight-year PECO leader now serves as the company’s top underground transmission system engineer, but his skills and volunteerism have energized the community much longer. Duncan is an Eagle Scout, Big Brothers Big Sisters volunteer and past math adjunct professor at Temple University.

He was among just 13 employees from PECO’s parent company, Exelon, who were honored during the diversity-focused gathering of students, college administrators, recruiters, engineering and IT professionals, scientists and high-level decision-makers from the corporate, government and military communities, and he was also among a select 10 who served as featured panelists.
