There’s likely no better way to celebrate April Fools’ Day than with some good ol’ fashioned tomfoolery, and that’s exactly what’s in store for the 34th Annual Chester County Antiques Show.

A lighthearted preview party the night of Friday, April 1, will give both history buffs and those just looking for a good time plenty to smile about, and the fun will continue all day Saturday and Sunday.

At $200 per person for the 5 p.m. early admission and $130 each for 6 p.m. regular admission to the antiques show, “the opening party is a wonderful venue for the [Chester County Historical] Society‘s major fundraiser,” co-chair Dale Frens said in a promotional email from the West Chester Business Improvement District. “By roaming the show, there is both the opportunity to spot the perfect antique and exchange greetings with members of the CCHS community.”

For Saturday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Sunday (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), $15 a person is the general admission price for the show, where much more than tomfoolery will be on display.

The one-of-a-kind Chester County tradition attracts a wide array of dealers and collectors.

“The antiques show is so related to the mission statement of CCHS. Material culture can most profoundly be appreciated at a museum level, but antiques also create connections with historic aesthetics, values, technology and craft,” said Frens, who is sharing this year’s co-chair duties with his wife, Susan, and family members Basel and Colleen Frens.

And all kidding aside, the antiques show plays an important role in keeping history alive.

“Understanding our history is central to understanding who we are — as individuals, as a community and a society,” Frens said.

Once again the 34th Annual Chester County Antiques Show will be hosted at the Phelps School in Malvern and presented by PECO.
