Dinniman Encourages Applications for Local Alternative Fuel Grant

Local municipalities, school districts, businesses, and nonprofit organizations are being encouraged by State Senator Andy Dinniman to take advantage of this year’s Pennsylvania’s Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant program.

The program, that assists in offsetting the costs of implementing transportation projects utilizing alternative fuels for local institutions, organizations, and businesses, opened on February 20th with around $7 million in grants available.

The projects eligible for the grant, that will remain open to applications throughout the year, are Vehicle Retrofit or Purchase, Alternative Fuel Refueling Infrastructure, Biofuel Use, and Innovative Technology.

“This program offers grants to local governments, companies, schools and nonprofits that use alternative fuels in their vehicles,” said Dinniman. “It is important that we continue to work to make Pennsylvania a leader in the use of alternative fuels that are both domestically produced and environmentally friendly.”

Detailed information on the program can be found here.

American Water Starts New Water Main Installation

Pennsylvania American Water commenced work in Caln Township on Tuesday, to install a new water main to improve service reliability, prevent water outages, and improve fire protection.

The project, costing around $500,000, will replace close to 2,400 feet of aging water main. Crews have already begun working along Clothier, Dupont, and Essex streets to install the new eight-inch ductile iron pipe, with construction taking place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.  Motorists are urged to find alternate routes due to traffic restrictions during construction hours.
