United Way Brings Back Its Thorndale Live United in Color 5K Run/Walk

By

UWCC 5kThe anticipation of awaking Chester County from its dull winter doldrums with a massive splash of color this spring is once again pouring out of Thorndale as Caln Township prepares for its wildly popular Live United in Color 5K Run & Walk.

The fun, fitness and goodwill — both figuratively and financially — will once again benefit a wide dispersion of local nonprofits through the United Way of Chester County.

With headline support by the Brandywine Hospital — and a few more sponsorships yet to be determined, the May 1 event for all ages and athletic abilities is expecting to dowse 1,000 participants or more with non-toxic and biodegradable colored powder about every kilometer.

“This untimed 5K is more about having fun than running the perfect mile,” United Way Senior Vice President Christopher Saello wrote in announcing this year’s race. “Last year’s event drew many corporate and community teams that dressed up in great outfits.”

In addition to local exposure among the race participants and spectators, corporate teams may also receive media coverage. And corporate sponsors will get their name on every runner’s T-shirt.

For participants, pre-registration is required and early bird discounts are available through the rest of February. The 2 p.m. start will take runners from Caln Township Park in Thorndale down G.O. Carlson Boulevard, North Bailey Road, Zynn Road, James Buchanan Drive and back to G.O. Carlson.
