In a celebration of progressive art, the Linear/Nonlinear exhibition will be part of the Arts at Delaware County Community College‘s Spring Season, with all events free of charge and open to public.

The exhibition which will run from March 2nd to April 8th is curated by Jay McClellan, and features the works of Mia Rosenthal, Greg Giegucz, Kelly Brown, and Jenny Cox. All four artists make progressive use of line and personal mark making completely integral to their work, and whether it is woven, pressed, hatched, or jotted, the lines ’ nonlinear repetition is always at the forefront. Through their work, these artists tell stories which frequently mimic the structures and recall of human memory.

On March 3rd, a reception and talk from the artist will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and every Thursday during the exhibition a visiting artist session with Brown and Cox will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Art Gallery, with the exception of March 17th.

Brown, whose work is often evocative of the mysterious, alluring, or disorienting, has previously presented her art at Pageant: Soloveev Gallery, Material Culture, as well as both Dear, Stephanie and Beautiful Water at the Center for Creative Works in Wynnewood.

Cox uses intense focus and methodological execution to achieve exuberant compositions in her art. Her works have been exhibited at the St. Louis Outsider Art Fair, Fleisher/Ollman Gallery, and most recently in The Woodmere Annual: 74th Juried Exhibition.

New York native Giegucz, who currently lives and works in New Orleans, received his MFA from the Memphis College of Art in 2006. He has been awarded both a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and a Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation award.

Rosenthal , who lives and works in Philadelphia, recently held a solo exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. She holds a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design and MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

The Linear/Nonlinear exhibition will be presented at the College’s Art Gallery, located in Room 2305 in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus at the 901 S. Media Line Road in Media. It will be open on workdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
